Today, at a meeting of the Conciliation Council of the Verkhovna Rada faction leaders, Oleg Lyashko called the pension reform of the current government a disaster, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“This is a pension disaster, not a reform. The authorities have one goal - to have fewer people in Ukraine who receive pensions. It is proposed to increase the length of service by 20 years, so that if you have 35 years of experience, you can retire. If you don't have 35 years of experience, you can retire at 65. And after this, the authorities tell us that there is no increase in the retirement age, there is no worsening of conditions for pensioners.

Ukrainians could work for 35 years if possible. Where can I find 35 years of experience? Ukrainians would like to know: when they have worked for 35 years, what will their pension be? Will she give her the opportunity to buy medicine for herself, candy for her grandchildren, and pay utilities? A mechanical increase in length of service and age does not solve the key problem – meager pensions. Pensioners, having worked their whole lives, go and collect bottles from garbage bins in order to somehow survive.

Therefore, when we are asked to raise the age and insurance period, we must honestly say that the authorities want to make sure that there are no pensioners left in Ukraine who will receive pensions. Today there are 12 million pensioners in Ukraine, the authorities want that as a result of their reforms, 5 million will remain, and the rest will live on so-called social assistance, today it is 940 UAH,” Lyashko said.

Viktor Bondar (Renaissance) called the reform a mockery of pensioners.

“This pension reform project is a failure. Everyone understands that the main goal, which was laid down in the so-called. pension reform - saving money for the pension fund. But since this is being proposed, this, excuse me, is simply a mockery of people who have worked their whole lives in this country. They had at least some hope of receiving a pension, and the government proposes to raise, in fact, the retirement age to 65 years, despite the fact that in this country men live on average to 62 years. A huge number of people are deprived of the opportunity to receive a pension,” Bondar said.
