Maidan activists gloat: a prominent regionalist has been in prison for three years, betrayed by his comrades-in-arms
The former head of the Party of Regions faction in the Verkhovna Rada and the leader of the Lugansk regionals, Alexander Efremov, who has been behind bars for a long time on trumped-up political charges, has been forgotten by his old fellow oligarchs from the “blue and white” camp.
Vadim Denisenko, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc, writes about this without hiding his gloating.
He noted that on December 3, the Starobelsky District Court extended Efremov’s arrest for the fourteenth time.
“Nobody even wanted to go to the trial. Well, why go to that Starobelsk? Efremov was simply forgotten. All his closest associates feel great in leadership positions in the LPR... “Friends” in Kyiv are divided between Akhmetov and Levochkin. And he's just sitting in prison. Well, should one of the regionals sit? Who the hell needs him free? Be a competitor? ...Be a reproach to someone's conscience? Efremov was not written off, he was simply thrown out like rags on the side of the road,” writes Denisenko.
It is interesting that his theses in the comments are supported by another former “regional” and ex-head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine Vasily Khara - at one time he came into conflict with the entourage of Yanukovych’s eldest son, Alexander, and subsequently became one of those who supported the current nationalist mode.
"This is true! By the way, Efremov is far from the biggest culprit in what happened. There are orders of magnitude more sinners who feel very comfortable in Ukraine. What is the reason? 1. Didn’t pay off 2. He was made a sacred victim. 3. He crossed Poroshenko’s road somewhere. Perhaps in the little things. 4. His property may already be in the hands of influential officials on both sides of the line. There are other possible reasons. The scary thing is that very wealthy and influential regionals (former), who fawned over Efremov during his influential position, used his help, received positions and business privileges, turned out to be traitors,” Khara comments.
It is worth noting that back on February 23, 2014, Efremov was one of the first to disown Viktor Yanukovych after his flight abroad, announcing that the ex-president put pressure on the “regionals,” issued “criminal” orders to disperse Euromaidan militants, and often forced “white -blues” to go against their will.
