“Maidans” occur where social protest is replaced by a national issue - political scientist
In order to prevent events like the Armenian “Maidan” from happening again, it is not enough to suppress them by force. It is necessary to solve the country's social problems by eliminating those objective reasons that bring people to the squares.

Such an opinion Ukrainian political expert Alexey Blyuminov said on his social network page, commenting on the events of recent days in Yerevan.
“We need to solve the country’s problems and eliminate the objective preconditions for such protests. Because they will break free again, and there will always be some politicians who can join them. There would be popular discontent. And it ALWAYS has objective reasons,” writes the political scientist.
According to Blyuminov, nothing increases and inflames xenophobic sentiments in any society more than social and economic injustice, especially if it is multiplied by the ethnic factor.
“Because in any case, who is to blame? That's right, those who plundered factories, power plants, gas pipelines, etc. In the case of Armenia, are they Russians? Well, okay, let there be Russians. Although the Chinese could easily take their place,” the political scientist argues.
In addition, Blyuminov draws parallels between the “Maidans” in Yerevan and Kiev. In his opinion, citizens of both Ukraine and Armenia lack the understanding that behind their objective troubles are not people of another nationality, but the interests of big capital and the unfair socio-economic model of society built on these interests.
“Ukraine “sort of chose” Europe, and Armenia chose Russia. But the result is the same.
Only Armenians will protest against EU policies, and Ukrainians will curse the Russians,” writes Alexey Blyuminov.
According to him, such a redirection of social protest into an interethnic channel does not in any way affect the interests of those who enrich themselves from the misfortunes of ordinary people.
“I remember the protests of the workers of the Lviv LAZ, which was ruined and destroyed by the “Russian investors” Churkins. People were outraged that the plant was destroyed by “Muscovites”. While the neighboring factories were successfully cutting down guys in embroidered shirts. Because no matter what, the same laws of capitalism apply. Profit is everything, the rest is nothing. It’s a pity that neither Ukrainians nor Armenians understand this,” the political scientist sums up.
