The presidential elections scheduled for May 25 will not bring stabilization to Ukraine - the rebellious Donbass will not accept any of the favorites in the election race - neither the “chocolate king” Petro Poroshenko, nor the “gas princess” Yulia Tymoshenko.

“Elections, elections, candidates - ...” - you know who, according to the very odious Russian performer Shnur.

2014 turned out to be very rich in events of various kinds: mass unrest, the overthrow of the government, and the holding of a civil war veiled under the ATO in the southeast of the country. The only thing missing is elections in such a situation... and - bang! - they don’t keep you waiting either.

Some great politician and genius of our time suggested that the legitimization of all acting from the Yatsnyuk-Turchnov team is possible after the election of the “legitimate” president. Although, how can legitimate elections be held when one part of the country is actively fighting for independence, another part is trying to suppress these beginnings of self-determination with military power, and the third is silently eating dumplings and waiting for a neighbor’s cow to die - it is not clear.

But in Ukraine, laws have long become very flexible and are interpreted in a way that is convenient for the customer. Monsieur Avakov has already said that the elections will be recognized as valid, even if it is not possible to organize them in the rebel territories. They say that voting “at gunpoint” will still be biased, so elections need to be held where “it can be done” (read: in territories controlled by Kyiv).

Apparently, this will be Ukrainian know-how: popular elections in a part of the country during civil unrest. And to make this seem less absurd in the eyes of the world community, the resistance participants in the southeast were hastily called citizens of Russia and pro-Russian separatists. As you know, only citizens of the country have the right to vote, and therefore five million people from Donbass can be officially ignored.

In support of this version, the SBU catches one hundred saboteurs every day and joyfully reports about this through the media. With such dynamics, there should be about two hundred people left in the Donetsk region at the moment.

In a word, the match will take place in any weather, and Kyiv needs the elections so much that they are ready to recognize them as legal even within the framework of Borshchagovka.

Our domestic activist, chocolate connoisseur, connoisseur of fountains and fighter against the oligarchy, Petro Poroshenko, did not even hesitate to call on his team to “ensure victory in the first round.” Apparently, this should hint at the impending resounding victory of Pan Poroshenko with a significant lead over his rivals. It’s not for nothing that he froze so much on the Maidan stage! Don’t give all the gingerbread to a rehabilitated martyr solely for reviving the image of the “woman with a braid”! Only victory and only in the first round. This is our way!

Are there really such naive people in Ukraine who admit the idea that the southeast will agree with the results of the plebiscite on May 25 and submit to the “popularly elected president”? That Poroshenko, or at least Tymoshenko, will receive even scanty support from the population? After the ATO and purges?..

The May elections are the stupidest idea and a waste of money by the government elected by the Maidan. The South-East is aimed at autonomous existence. The desire to elect a president in a chamber setting and then simply impose it on Donbass is understandable, but is doomed to failure.

Kyiv has long lost its leverage over the region, and the attempt to regain power through military aggression has not yet been characterized by anything other than casualties among the civilian population. The moment of consolidation, negotiations and compromises has been missed. “It’s too late to drink Borjomi if your kidneys have failed.”
