Agrarian expert Denis Marchuk announced this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Unfortunately, it should be noted that we will suffer serious losses on fruit trees, these are apples and pears. But most of all this will affect stone fruits, these are peaches, apricots and plums. These trees suffered the most from the frost. In addition to fruits, berries - strawberries, wild strawberries and partially currants - were affected. We will suffer very serious losses regarding strawberries. In Ukraine they can reach 35-40%. “We can already say that the farmers of the Kiev, Cherkasy, and Kherson regions, who specialize in strawberries, will suffer serious losses,” he said.
The expert also added that due to harvest losses, the price of berries in Ukraine remains at a high level, and Ukrainian producers will be partially displaced by foreign ones.
