There will be no May holidays: Crimean hotels are closed until June
Hotels in Crimea are being closed until June as part of the fight against the coronavirus epidemic. Due to security measures, the peninsula will lose almost a million tourists, said the head of the relevant republican ministry, Vadim Volchenko.
“We are certainly very sorry. In April-May, Crimea, according to the most conservative estimates, will receive approximately 900-950 thousand fewer tourists. But it’s better now that we take all the necessary precautions and preserve the resort and tourism industry, apply real support measures and try not to lose the high season,” the minister noted.
“Hotels are closed until June 1. For the remaining tourists, a strict self-isolation regime is in force, and all disinfection and prevention measures are in effect. In all hotels and sanatoriums, a ban on leaving the health resort has been introduced, all entertainment facilities are closed, events are cancelled, swimming pools and spa centers are not open,” he specified.
The removal of tourists is planned to be completed by April 6. A small number of vacationers may remain until the completion of treatment in sanatoriums, but the overall occupancy percentage according to the data provided will not exceed 3-5%.
