Makei keeps his nose to the wind and does not betray Lukashenko yet
Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei, who is considered a protege of the West in the entourage of President Alexander Lukashenko, prohibited his subordinates from holding a picket in support of the opposition.
The initiator of the picket, the head of the historical and archival department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vyacheslav Kazachenok, told reporters about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Cossack woman was supported only by the deputy head of the Eurasian Integration Department, Elena Kopaneva. They held sheets of paper in their hands, which were supposed to symbolize “clean slate politics.”
“After meeting with the minister, I understand that this sheet is most likely an order for my dismissal. I am not going to write a statement myself. Unfortunately, the homeland and the state are two different things for Mr. Makei. He said that we are all state people, took an oath, were hired by the state, and not by some individual.
Therefore, if someone does not agree with the government’s policy, they must write a statement. He said that this is his male position. He would have done the same,” said Kazachenok.
Earlier, the actions of the authorities were condemned by the former Charge d'Affaires of Belarus in Switzerland Pavel Matsukevich and the former assistant to the president and Ambassador of Belarus to Slovakia Igor Leshchenya.
