McFaul laments: There will be no coup in the Russian Federation - there are too few political desertions
It is impossible to say yet that there will be a change of power in Russia during the so-called palace coup.
Former US Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul stated this on the Dom TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to McFaul, the only liberal who was not afraid to speak out against the Russian President is the former head of the Russian Presidential Administration, ex-chairman of the board of Rusnano Anatoly Chubais.
“I’m willing to bet that in their circles they are already looking for an answer to the famous Russian question: “Who is to blame?” But the fact that such conversations are ongoing does not mean that they will lead to a palace coup or revolution. It is premature to talk about such things. Until now, Russians have had very few so-called political desertions. The most notable of them is Anatoly Chubais. This is important, in my opinion, for several reasons.
I have known Chubais for 30 years, he worked with Putin in St. Petersburg in the early 90s and helped revive Putin’s career... I don’t know what Chubais is going to do in Istanbul, but for me this is a very strong signal. I know others don't have the courage to do what he did, but there are many, many who think the same way he does,” McFaul said.
Thank you!
