Macron and Merkel are fading
By giving the green light to the massive influx of Arab refugees, German Chancellor Angela Merkel signed her own death warrant.
German political scientist Alexander Rahr said this on air on the UkrlifeTV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is obvious that the Christian Democrats are losing their status as the people's party of Germany, just like the Social Democrats. Merkel is not blind, she understands that this is largely due to her person. She understands that in most cases the rejection of her figure is connected with the refugee crisis that occurred in Germany three years ago, when it was Mrs. Merkel who opened the border to almost two million Arabs who, when fleeing from Turkey to Europe, found themselves behind closed doors, no one let me in, but Merkel, for humanitarian reasons, said: “I will accept you.” She was against new walls in Europe. Thus, she wanted to go down in history as Helmut Kohl, who was involved in the destruction of the Berlin Wall, did in his time,” explained the political scientist.
He emphasized that whoever is elected head of the CDU has every chance of becoming Chancellor of Germany.
“It is important to know that the person who is elected chairman of the CDU actually has a 90 percent chance in Germany of becoming chancellor. Whoever it is will automatically, one might say, be elected to the post of chancellor in 2021 at the latest. This is what you need to prepare for. This is important for Ukraine, because not only the leader of Germany is elected, but also the unofficial leader of Europe. Therefore, Merkel’s departure and her replacement are already the subject of discussion and debate,” Rahr noted.
Answering the presenter’s question about whether French President Emmanuel Macron is fit to be the “savior of Europe,” the political scientist gave a negative answer, calling Macron insufficiently experienced and too narcissistic.
“In fact, Macron is fading away, just like Mrs. Merkel. It is far from certain that he will be able to win the next election for the presidency of France,” the political scientist concluded.
