Macron: Everything will be decided between Russia and the West in the coming days
The coming days will be decisive in negotiations between Russia and the West.
French President Emmanuel Macron announced this today in Moscow after six-hour talks with Vladimir Putin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Everyone is striving for restoration and peace. Therefore, we need to agree on specific measures and bring the situation to de-escalation. We discussed this together. This should be confirmed in the coming days and weeks.
This will depend on negotiations and consultations with the US and NATO, as well as our meeting with President Zelensky tomorrow.
President Putin said that he is ready to follow this logic so that there is balance in these initiatives, including on the issue of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The coming days will be decisive, and these close discussions we have had will contribute to this,” Macron said.
For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin called Macron’s proposals to resolve the crisis acceptable.
“Mr. President considered it necessary to come to Russia and exchange views on how we should proceed. A number of his ideas and proposals, which are too early to talk about, can quite possibly be used as the basis for our further steps.
Let's see how Mr. President's meeting goes in Kyiv. We agreed that after his trip to the capital of Ukraine, we will call again and exchange views on this matter,” Putin said.
