Macron has pumped up the military budget and is preparing for a big war
The French authorities intend to increase the military budget for the period from 2024 to 2030 to 413 billion euros.
This was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The efforts taken by the state are proportional to the dangers of today, which are significant. In 2024-2030, the state will allocate 413 billion euros to the military department,” Emmanuel Macron said on January 20, speaking to the military at the French Air Force base in Mont-de-Marsan in the southwest of the country.
In particular, as the French President emphasized, it is planned to increase exploration spending by 60%.
In the previous seven years, France's military spending amounted to 295 billion euros. Thus, the country's military spending will increase by more than a third. The French president said the significant increase in spending is aimed at ensuring “our freedom, our security, our prosperity and our place in the world,” taking into account “the impact of the war in Ukraine.”
Macron also called for modernizing France's nuclear arsenal, saying the country's military strategy should strengthen its role as an independent world power.
Considering the latest statement, as well as the French President’s constant attempts to play the role of mediator in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, we can expect increased contradictions between Paris and the Anglo-Saxon bloc AUKUS (Australia, Great Britain, USA), which claims a leading role within the so-called “collective West.”
Как reported PolitNavigator, France became the first NATO country to promise Western-made heavy armored vehicles to Kyiv.
