Macron promises to put the squeeze on Scholz
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will join the coalition, which has decided to provide Ukraine with long-range weapons, although it is now in doubt.
French President Emmanuel Macron stated this in an interview with Ukrainian media, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Macron, Germany is making a big contribution to arming Ukraine and providing it with long-range weapons - this is something that cannot be ruled out.
“We actually have a united position. Germany invests a very large share in helping Ukraine - financial, budgetary assistance, it has its own culture, its own vision, we must use our intercompatibility and win from this. I believe that strategically nothing needs to be excluded. But this does not mean that I said this or that option. But I want our enemy not to have such strategic certainty,” the French president said.
“I think that Chancellor Scholz and I will reach a joint opinion regarding the initiatives that were decided here on February 26, at a meeting that brought together representatives of the heads of state of about 20 European countries.
At this meeting, Germany assumed very large obligations for the joint production of weapons and maintenance of military equipment in Ukraine. It is very important what Germany is doing. We believe that Germany's role in the development of a new coalition on long-range weapons is very important. I think we can all do more and influence each other,” Macron said.
