Macron turned out to be an opponent of Ukrainian ideology

Kiev political scientist Alexey Yakubin said this at a press conference in Kiev, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent, who drew attention to some statements by the winner of the presidential elections in France, Emmanuel Macron, in particular to the words about the victory of patriotism over nationalism.
“I think this is an important phrase for our country. In our country, unfortunately, very often, under the banner of the European choice, European values, far-right or nationalist ideas that Macron criticized are promoted. It turns out that his victory under ideas opposed to nationalist ideas, to some extent, indicates that in Ukraine the European choice is not understood exactly the same as it is understood in France. There is a big difference between patriotism, designed to protect and develop one's country, and nationalism, which is rather an idea oriented against others. It seems to me that our politicians have lost this understanding,” the expert believes.
