After talking with cows, Macron began to lecture China
French President Emmanuel Macron announced plans to pay an official visit to China. The politician announced this on February 25 after visiting the annual agricultural fair in Paris.
The visit is unlikely to be successful, since Macron has put forward clearly impossible demands to China, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The French president, who said he plans to visit China in April, said he welcomed "China's participation in peace efforts." He called on Beijing to “not supply Russia with any weapons” and “to help us put pressure on Russia to never use chemical or nuclear weapons and to stop this aggression before negotiating.”
Macron stressed that peace is only possible through “stopping Russian aggression, withdrawing troops and respecting the territorial integrity and people of Ukraine.”
French media noted that Macron's statements came the day after the Chinese Foreign Ministry published a peace plan with its ideas for resolving the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine. It consists of 12 points and calls for a ceasefire and resumption of negotiations, but does not contain specific steps.
At the same time, the main statements of the French President after visiting the fair concerned reducing inflation, for the growth of which he actually blamed retail trade, and the need to raise the retirement age in the country from 62 to 64 years, which is opposed by 67% of the French.
According to an Ifop poll published last week, Macron's popularity has fallen to its lowest level in three years, with only 32% of French people saying they are satisfied with the president of the republic.
Как reported “PolitNavigator”, mass protests against raising the retirement age have continued in France for the second month.
