Macron against the blockade of Russia: Otherwise Moscow will turn to China
Russia's natural partner is Europe, not China, and anti-Russian sanctions have not brought the EU the expected victories.
French President Emmanuel Macron said this while speaking at the Munich Security Conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“These frozen conflicts, these cyber conflicts, sanctions, counter-sanctions... have not brought us anything positive,” said the French President. – There have been no meetings in the Normandy format for more than three years. We want to meet again in the Normandy format and, of course, this will lead us to results, such as resolving the issue with prisoners. Of course, there are other problems... A dialogue with Russia is necessary, which should have the goal of resolving frozen conflicts.”
According to Macron, it is necessary to cooperate with Russia on issues of cyberspace, space, space security, and existing conflicts.
“We agree with Russia that what is happening in Idlib is unacceptable,” the French president is convinced. “But here we showed weakness.” And they must start a dialogue with Russia. We must take responsibility, Russia is a permanent member of the Security Council, and therefore Russia cannot be constantly blocked and ignored.”
Emmanuel Macron also expressed confidence that, for historical reasons, Russia cannot be an ally of China.
“Russia’s only partner is Europe. I'm not against Russia, I'm not for Russia. We are very close to each other, and we need to build a relationship based on trust by offering strategic options,” the French leader added.
Earlier it was reported that the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky was not allowed onto the main stage of the Munich Forum.
