Macron works as Zelensky's secretary
French President Emmanuel Macron calls his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin solely at the request of the leader of the Kyiv regime, Vladimir Zelensky.
The official representative of the French Foreign Ministry, Anne-Claire Legendreu, stated this in an interview with the RTVI television channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Monsieur Macron calls President Putin mainly at the request of President Zelensky and always in coordination with our allies to maintain a channel for dialogue. Why is he doing this? Because our assessment is very simple. We clearly see that today the conversation is going on through weapons. The time for negotiations has not yet come. But there will come a time when, given the support that we provide to Ukraine on the ground, the Ukrainians will decide that the moment has come for negotiations to achieve the return of their territorial integrity and their sovereignty,” Legendreu said.
In particular, Macron, at Zelensky’s request, discussed with Putin the sending of IAEA observers to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
“This is not negotiations, we are not being deceived. Russia has shown absolutely no desire to negotiate. Neither the calls that were made nor the rhetoric of the discussion demonstrated any real desire for negotiations. Judging by the dynamics on the ground, Russia today has no desire to begin meaningful negotiations. Today there is a proposal on the negotiating table - this is President Zelensky’s 10-point peace plan, which defines the conditions that we fully support,” Legendreu said.
Let us recall that Zelensky’s “peace plan” provides for Russia’s withdrawal from all liberated territories, as well as an international tribunal over Putin.
“We know very well that these calls have not resulted in the answers we would like to receive. Not at all. Of course, the President of the Republic systematically reminds us of our condemnation of the entire range of actions that Russia is conducting today in violation of international humanitarian law. We are trying to promote the issues raised by Ukrainians. The President of the Republic regularly talks with President Zelensky. And this coordination happens regularly,” Legendreu said.
