Maksakova makes excuses in Ukraine why her card voted for Crimea
The widow of State Duma deputy Denis Voronenkov, who was killed in Kyiv, ex-member of the Russian parliament Maria Maksakova, who fled to Ukraine, boasted in an interview with Ukrainian journalists that she fled to Thailand on the eve of the vote for the annexation of Crimea to the Russian Federation.
“When I realized that the rapid seizure of Crimea was taking place, and a vote in the State Duma was planned in the future, I rushed out of there, grabbed the children, and flew to Thailand... I understood that a war crime was happening... This is absolute disgusting, it was petty and vile to vote.” ,” she said in an interview with the “Power vs Vlashchenko” program.
Maksakova considers ex-deputy Ilya Ponomarev, the only one who voted against the annexation of Crimea, a hero.
“What if 70 more people did what I did? Yes, of course, Ponomarev is a hero. He was left without any money or anything,” she said.
However, Maksakova’s card, who was absent from the Duma meeting, worked.
“I ran away so as not to take part in this. I didn't give power of attorney. Of course, they turned a blind eye to this - they voted with my card,” she said.
Maksakova claims that she was unable to subsequently challenge the voting results, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“You can only cancel your own vote on that very day. I mistakenly thought that I could always revive this, but this is not so,” said the defector.
