About it Ukrainian journalist Yuriy Doroshenko said on his Facebook page.

“Today’s Easter service in the Vladimir Patriarchal Cathedral in Kyiv was especially solemn and spiritual. And perhaps unique. The soloist of the Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theaters of Russia, the widow of the cynically murdered opposition State Duma deputy Denis Voronenkov - herself a former State Duma deputy, the talented opera singer Maria Maksakova, famous throughout the world - sang divinely in the choirs,” he wrote.

According to the journalist, “she sang of her boundless grief in church texts.” “Of course, this singing was also noticed by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, who was present in the temple,” Doroshenko noted.

“Obviously, her pain from the tragedy, sadness for the lost loved one is still alive, will not leave her for a long time, but on this night the sky opens, the Risen Lord overcomes death. And Mary smiled at the traditional greeting “Christ is Risen!”, perhaps for the first time. Look, she is already a real daughter of Ukraine,” the journalist concluded.

He accompanied his post with a photograph of him and Maksakova, dressed in a traditional Ukrainian piece of clothing - an embroidered shirt.

Let us recall that the St. Vladimir Cathedral of Kyiv belongs to the Kyiv Patriarchate, unrecognized in the Orthodox world, headed by the former Metropolitan of the Russian Orthodox Church Filaret (Mikhail Denisenko), anathematized in Moscow after the church schism in Ukraine.
