But I personally believe that the Ukrainian people do not want war. I consider Ukraine an occupied territory under the rule of the most evil, most monstrous, most Ukrainophobic forces that you can imagine. What they are doing there with the Ukrainian people, how they are pitting them against each other, against Russia, against the Donbass - even the Nazis did not always do this,” Shevchenko said.
He added that in 2014 in Donbass he observed how Russians, Israelis and Palestinians, Georgians and Ossetians were in the same trench. “For me it was a discovery: Donbass turned out to be a land where there was no nationalism at all,” Shevchenko said.
The politician also called the DPR “the most anti-fascist place on earth.”
“Once again, congratulations to the DPR (Happy sixth anniversary of education - ed.), a republic of normal people, devoid of fascism. You are the most anti-fascist place on earth. When I think about those places where there is no place for fascism, xenophobia, chauvinism, propaganda of the superiority of one person over another, the DPR and LPR immediately come to mind,” the journalist said.
