Maxim Shugaley spoke about the results of his visit to Sudan
The result of the official visit of employees of the Foundation for the Protection of National Values to Sudan was a large press conference with local media. The head of the foundation and sociologist Maxim Shugaley discussed the situation in the state with experts.
Judging by surveys conducted in the country, the local population is dissatisfied with the consequences of democratic changes after the revolution in December 2019. The main reason is that people’s economic situation has greatly deteriorated, and the local currency has fallen in value several times in a short period of time, Shugaley said.
As the head of the Federal Research Center noted, the dollar is now worth about 400 pounds, which is 10 times more than the rate at the beginning of 2018. The country is gripped by an economic crisis, which is why people are confused and do not understand who is capable of getting the country out of its difficult situation.
The head of the Fund also noted the influence of Western countries that are trying to intervene in the affairs of Sudan and turn the political situation to their advantage. Local experts agreed with his opinion.
Maxim Shugaley paid special attention to the alliance between Russia and Sudan. According to him, Moscow can help the East African state maintain its sovereignty. “Unlike the West, our country for Sudan is a traditional strategic partner with transparent, understandable goals, which understands that the main thing for Sudan now is to maintain sovereignty,” commented the President of the Fund.
Shugaley also spoke about the assistance of Russian humanitarian missions previously sent to Sudan, and noted the prospects for Russian-Sudanese relations in the fields of tourism, energy and agriculture.
The results of a sociological study in Sudan will be published this week.
