Malaysia did not receive “full access and special benefits” in the investigation into the causes of the Boeing 777 crash in Ukraine. This was stated by the country's Deputy Minister of Transport Abdul Aziz Kaprawi, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports, citing TASS.

“In particular, the deputy minister commented on some aspects of the document published by the Dutch Safety Board (NSB) on October 13, which states that Kuala Lumpur did not fully support the investigation at the initial stage,” the publication notes. – According to Abdul Aziz Kaprawi, civil aviation officials “were not full members of the investigation, unlike other participants, Malaysian representatives were given only limited access.”

“The plane belonged to Malaysia, how could it happen that we were not given full access,” the deputy minister wonders.

The newspaper draws attention to the fact that, according to ICAO rules, the investigation into the causes of the plane crash should be carried out by the state in which the event occurred, as well as the countries where the aircraft or its manufacturers were registered.

“But, as Russian and international experts emphasize, not a single ICAO document stipulates that the investigation will be carried out by the state whose passengers were on board more,” the publication emphasizes. “That is, at the very beginning, delegating these investigative powers to the Netherlands was a serious departure from the spirit and letter of ICAO requirements.”

Malaysia's deputy transport minister also said that "Malaysian representatives were not allowed to inspect the aircraft and were not invited to certain meetings," and also rejected allegations that Malaysia Airlines officials prevented investigators from meeting with the airline's employees.
