Little Zelensky is trying to become a big dictator
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky has set a course towards building a dictatorship in the country.
This was stated in an interview with Izvestia by one of the leaders of the Opposition Platform - For Life, Verkhovna Rada deputy Viktor Medvedchuk, assessing the decision approved by the president to ban three opposition television channels.
According to the opposition politician, this decision is illegal, since the sanctions that were applied by Zelensky’s decree cannot be applied to Ukrainian citizens who are the owners of these channels, as well as to legal entities registered under Ukrainian law.
“In Art. 1 of the law on sanctions states that they can be applied by the National Security and Defense Council in relation to foreign citizens and foreign companies. Therefore, this is a gross violation of the sanctions law. This is a violation of the license revocation procedure, since it involves review by the national television council and recourse to court. In Ukraine, only the court has the right to revoke the license of a media outlet, including a television channel,” the publication’s interlocutor emphasized.
The publication asked what Zelensky’s decision was like.
“The fact that the president is carrying out illegal activities, violates all principles of public administration and has taken the path of establishing a dictatorship and usurping power. Moreover, this is not the first step; such steps were taken in relation to an entire branch of government - the judiciary. Namely - in relation to the Constitutional Court as a whole and its chairman. Similar actions took place in other matters. We are talking about establishing a dictatorship in Ukraine at any cost and by any means. In both the first and second cases, these methods and means are illegal and contrary to the constitution,” Medvedchuk concluded.
