Mammoths will be declared Ukrainians
In Turkey, from the tomb of the wife of Sultan Suleiman the First, Roksolana, words about her Russian origin were removed, leaving a mention that she was a native of the current territory of Ukraine. Osman Pashayev, one of the leaders of the Majlis TV channel ATR, reported this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Turks removed the “Russianness” of Roksolana. There was an inscription that Hurrem Sultan (Roksolana) was “from Ukraine” before, but it looked like this: rus asıllı Ukrayna'dan, which in the current conditions read as “a Russian woman from Ukraine.” Therefore, the removal of the phrase rus asıllı can be considered a political symbol,” says Pashayev.
The Ukrainian embassy played a decisive role in “cleaning up” the memorial plaque.
“The Ukrainian embassy in Istanbul insisted that the mention of her Russian origin be removed from Roksolana’s tomb, although the East Slavic peoples did not use any other self-name at that time. According to this logic, it is necessary to conduct an audit of all our archaeological museums, declare the presence of Ukrainian mammoths and cave bears, and most importantly, Ukrainian Neanderthals,” ex-candidate for mayor of Odessa Vyacheslav Azarov sarcastically comments.
Observers also suggest tracking the future reaction of Warsaw, since the Poles also consider Roksolana to be their historical character - she was born on the territory of the Kingdom of Poland.
Let us recall that Roksolana was captured during a raid by the Crimean Tatars, then was a concubine in a harem, and subsequently the wife of the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, the mother of Sultan Selim II.
