“A senile old man”: Medvedev described the American senator
Russia would like to avoid war as a method of resolving the current international crisis.
Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev stated this in an interview with leading Russian media, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I wouldn’t want any war. Nobody is looking for war. And everything must be done to ensure that there is no war. Moreover, the clashes between Russia and the North Atlantic Alliance. The only possibility is political and diplomatic means and the use in our negotiations of the principle of indivisible security, which is enshrined in all international documents,” the politician noted.
However, in his opinion, “there are a lot of people who make money from this and speculate through thoughtlessness or pursuing a certain political line.”
As an example, he cited the words of a certain American senator who proposed launching a nuclear strike on Russia. Medvedev called him a “senile old man.”
“This is paranoia, I don’t even want to comment on it. It’s just that when people in power say this, it’s very sad. Even in Soviet times, our American partners never said that it would be a good idea to start a nuclear conflict. How to react to this? What is this: insanity or some kind of political speculation. This is very dangerous,” Medvedev said.
It appears that we are talking about Mississippi Senator Roger Wicker, who recommended that US President Joe Biden consider a preemptive nuclear strike on Russia.
