“There are assessment indicators that indicate that a serious provocation may occur within the next 2 days. From the point of view of common sense, this is difficult to imagine, but from the point of view of a military conflict, this is an absolute reality,” he said.

Marchuka believes that the situation is moving into the second phase of the operation that Russia is conducting in relation to Ukraine, and it can be much more dangerous than the entire Crimean phase. Today, for experts who are well versed in the security format in general, it is clear that in the next two days Ukraine will experience a critical moment in the history of its independence, it is connected with the overlap of certain factors over time.

“I am not a government official. My information is an expert opinion. In addition to military reports, there are very accurate indicators, especially when an offensive operation is being prepared. There are things that cannot be kept secret, except for the plans that are in the headquarters, and mainly in the head of one person. The military has very clear actions - offensive, defensive, reconnaissance in nature, from which it is clear why tactical reconnaissance is carried out in the territory of the “theater of possible military operations.” Everyone already knows that Russia has used an unconventional occupation. Approximately the same measures are being recorded on the territory of Ukraine, especially in Donetsk,” noted the former head of the SBU.

“There are such operations, such their components, that it is impossible to “hold on” for a long time; you must either give up or move forward. For example, in Donetsk and the region there is a saturation of “tourists” in civilian clothes, it is clear that they have a leader - a “tour guide”. I don’t have all the information, because only those who are directly there know the realities. Unfortunately, there are all signs that what may happen first is not a massive military attack of an offensive nature by Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine, but an attack by a very competently initiated group of people armed with automatic weapons. I don't want to draw further scenarios. This does not mean that everything will happen inevitably. I know that a lot of effort is being spent now to prevent this from happening. The US statement about a possible invasion is also a very serious signal,” Marchuk said.

According to him, all government agencies are aware of this situation. “I don’t think the pressure will decrease within 10 days; most likely it will last until May 30,” Marchuk said.
