The publication reports: “The head of the French National Front, Marine Le Pen, wants France to leave the euro zone if she wins the elections. She says France will be more competitive with the franc than with the euro. These plans have already become a real headache for the EU and Angela Merkel.”
National Front (FN) President Marine Le Pen said in an interview with the Financial Times that France's withdrawal from the euro zone would benefit the country more than participation in it. France's exit from the euro zone effectively means the end of the EU currency area, and therefore, ultimately, the euro itself as a currency.
“We must get out of this system,” said Marine Le Pen. “We are in a system that is rotten. We have to look at everything with new fresh eyes."
Marine Le Pen has a good chance of winning the upcoming presidential elections in 2017, the publication reports. Marine Le Pen is now leading opinion polls of election preferences and is about to strengthen her advantage. Regional elections are held in France on March 22.
