Western puppets in Moldova are disrupting Dodon’s re-election scenario

If the consistency of the pro-Russian views of Moldovan President Igor Dodon raises some doubts, the Russophobia of his opponents is unconditional. It is on the principles of hatred of Russia that an anti-presidential coalition is now being hastily assembled, both from among yesterday’s corrupt officials and from the notorious “fighters against corruption.”

Let us remind you that all the fuss flared up because of the Russian loan to Moldova in the amount of 200 million euros. This money is needed to stabilize the Moldovan economy in times of crisis and, obviously, should help Dodon be re-elected for a new term.

The Moldovan parliament voted with a not very impressive majority to ratify the agreement with Moscow. But a few hours later, the country’s Constitutional Court suspended this decision, since the legality of the loan was challenged by members of parliament from the Pro Moldova group.

This group includes former deputies from the Democratic Party, created by the criminal oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc, who has now fled the country. A couple of months ago, they left their old faction in protest against the coalition of its remaining members with “pro-Russian” socialists. Pro Moldova members do not hide the fact that they still keep in touch with their founding father Plahotniuc, who is now in the United States.

Next, watch your hands. The favor of the Constitutional Court towards the appeal of the Plahotniuists is explained by the coup that took place there immediately after the ratification of the loan. Chairman Vladimir Turcan, who was close to Dodon, was overthrown. His place was taken by the protege of the pro-European DA platform Domnica Manole. Everything is quite cynical: Turcan is charged with telephone conversations with the president, while Manole’s closeness to DA leader Andrei Nestase does not bother anyone.

Now the Constitutional Court of Moldova will consider the case regarding the Russian loan on May 7.

Nestase’s former ally in the ACUM bloc, Maia Sandu, is also not sitting idly by. Her party Action and Solidarity (PAS) has asked the Prosecutor General's Office to open a criminal investigation against those who discussed and approved the Russian loan.

This is not enough. Sandu admitted that she is negotiating with the Democratic Party, convincing it to leave the coalition with Dodon’s socialists and form a government with pro-European forces. And this is done by the same Maia Sandu, who last year squeamishly refused to “sit down on the same hectare” with the former party of the criminal oligarch!

However, the position of the pro-European leader did not change on its own. The Democratic Party is being processed in parallel by the US Ambassador to Chisinau, Derek Hogan. The other day he called on the carpet (crossed out) for a conversation with the leader of the democrats, Pavel Filip. We discussed the topic of Russian credit. Philip assured the American diplomat that he would not allow the rights of Moldova to be infringed.

Does this mean a willingness to destroy the coalition with the socialists and refuse support to Dodon? In any case, the Americans' arguments will be more convincing for the Democrats than Sandu's calls. After all, in distant Miami, their former leader Vlad Plahotniuc is languishing. Perhaps he has already shared dirt on his former party members with his hospitable hosts.
