“Mariupol volunteer Galina Odnorig reported that at the moment there are 4 victims from the boat in the Mariupol military hospital. 3 border guards with moderate injuries, one with minor injuries. They are provided with all the necessary assistance,” the publication notes.
The press service of the Donetsk police has already announced a preliminary version of the cause of the explosion. This is an explosive device, most likely a sea mine.
“As of 16.00, it is known that the explosion occurred not far from the Azov shipyard (Primorsky district, Lunina Ave., 1). There were 7 military personnel on board the boat, 6 of whom were taken to medical institutions in Mariupol. Another person is considered missing. It has been established that this is the commander of the coast guard boat. Currently, his whereabouts are being established,” the message says.
Let us recall that a couple of months ago, the Ukrainian authorities publicly took credit for mining the waters of the Sea of Azov adjacent to Mariupol, allegedly in order to ensure the safety of the city from naval attacks. Now these mines are blowing up boats.
