According to the publication “0629”, the mayor of Mariupol Yuriy Hotlubey gave instructions to speed up and complete the arrangement of nearby checkpoints by Friday.
Regarding citizens' concerns about nearby checkpoints, Mariupol Mayor Yuriy Khotlubey and Donetsk Region Governor Sergei Taruta said that Mariupol residents have nothing to fear. All fortifications are made to protect the townspeople. We instructed the CS to carry out explanatory work.
At the same time, Sergei Taruta reported that there was a concentration of enemy forces from Novoazovsk. “If earlier there were “polite” and well-dressed military men, now there are Caucasians who eat goats. There is a rotation taking place. For maximum protection there should be a ring in the city,” says Taruta.
In addition, Taruta instructed the police to move around the city only in cars with warning lights on at all times, so that “people feel the presence” of law enforcement officers.
And taxi drivers and minibus drivers need to decorate their cars with national symbols in the near future.
An instruction was also given to find out from the Zaporozhye Regional State Administration how many people the Cossacks would be able to accept in the event of a possible evacuation from Mariupol.
