For a month now, there has been talk in the city that Mariupol supposedly now belongs not to Donetsk, but to Zaporozhye region, reports the publication “0629”.
“A woman called the registration service of the Mariupol City Department of Justice (registry office) and said in a concerned voice that the child’s birth certificate in the “place of birth” column contained the entry Mariupol, Zaporozhye region,” said the head of the city wedding palace, Irina Yaremenko.
The Civil Registry Office noted that there have also been reports that the same data is written in medical certificates of birth, which are issued in maternity hospitals and even in certificates and records of marriage registration.
As Yaremenko noted, since December 2008, all types of registration (birth, death, divorce, marriage, name change) have been registered electronically in the State Register of Civil Status Acts of Citizens and on paper.
“Even technically, taking into account the human factor, such a mistake (to mix up the area) is impossible to make. The Registry program will not allow issuing such an incorrect document,” Yaremenko explained.
