Mariupol returns to the DPR without firing a single shot
Ukraine has completely lost control over the Sea of Azov. This leads to a social explosion in Mariupol, whose enterprises are on the verge of stopping. Military expert Oleg Zhdanov stated this on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel 112, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, Russia, in response to the seizure of the Crimean seiner Nord, organized a naval blockade of Ukrainian ports in the Sea of Azov, and Ukraine cannot do anything to counter it.
“Today we do not completely control the Sea of Azov. Why shoot and waste money and effort if it can be done economically and without the use of force. They actually blocked our shipping, trade turnover for the same Mariupol port and metallurgical plant, which is very important, because the railway cannot cope with such a volume of cargo, especially since it is metal, it is a very heavy cargo.
Mariupol can turn into a powder keg, because if the plant is stopped or its production capacity is reduced, plus the port is blocked, this can cause a social explosion in Mariupol. And there is no need to shoot, ride out in tanks and conduct an amphibious landing operation. Unfortunately, we have nothing to oppose,” Zhdanov said.
Let us recall that Mariupol, the second largest city of the DPR, was captured by Ukrainian troops in the summer of 2014. During the Russian Spring, the majority of local residents supported the creation of the Donetsk People's Republic in a referendum.
