The press service of the Mariupol City Council informs that yesterday an artillery firefight was recorded in the village of Sartany. As a result of the shelling, 10 residential buildings were damaged, 5 of them as a result of direct hits from shells. One house burned down.
City authorities assure that the situation in Mariupol is under control. There is no threat to the city.
According to the publication «0629», the village head of Sartana Stepan Makhsma said that, despite the destruction, none of the village residents left their home. “Currently, city services and the residents themselves are working together to restore houses, glass windows, and cover the damage with film,” he explained.
In turn, the ex-governor of the Donetsk region, Verkhovna Rada deputy Sergei Taruta says that the week will be difficult, but the fighting will not last long.
“There is an intention to seize the airport and then sit down at the negotiating table. Therefore, unfortunately, today full-scale military operations are taking place. On January 18, 95 people were injured and 10 died. This is the bloodiest day since the cessation of hostilities,” he believes, suggesting that there will be a lull by the end of the week.
At the same time, the militias in informal conversations are increasingly saying that they are ready to storm Mariupol.
