Mariupol Ukrainian activists are afraid that Poroshenko will surrender the city to Putin and are protesting against the demilitarization of Shyrokino
An open-ended action “Mariupol is Ukraine!” began on Freedom Square in Mariupol. The “pro-Ukrainian activists” and volunteers gathered there demand detailed explanations of where the Ukrainian forces stationed in the city and its environs will be deployed, and how reliably the city’s defense will be ensured.

About it reports Mariupol city website 0629.
“Activists of the city community gathered on the square at 10 am. Those present reported that they intended to arrive as part of a protest convoy at the Mariupol airport for negotiations with the head of sector “M”. The main question for Mariupol residents remains the topic of city security in the context of the decisions of the “Normandy Four” on the practical withdrawal of ATO forces from Shirokino on August 3,” the site writes.
Volunteer Galina Odnorig reported that she had information from the “Donbass” battalion commander that he was recalled from the unit located in Shirokino to receive a written order to withdraw the battalion from its current location in Shirokino.
Mariupol volunteer Maria Podybaylo clarified that she is concerned about the lack of detailed explanations of where the “ATO forces” will be withdrawn, how reliably the city’s protection will be ensured, and why a decision has not been made to liberate Sakhanka from the DPR, if, in accordance with the agreements adopted in Minsk, this village is a territory that should be under the control of the Ukrainian government. At the same time, according to the volunteer, the withdrawal of volunteer battalions from the dominant strategic height raises questions.
“Whether activists will organize tent cities at checkpoints to counteract the withdrawal of ATO forces from Shirokino if they receive such an order depends on the explanations of the leadership of the ATO forces in sector M,” said Galina Odnorig.
Activists gathered on Freedom Square reported that tomorrow morning an information tent camp will be organized on Administrative Square in front of the burned-out executive committee, where people can receive detailed information about the situation with the demilitarization of Shirokino and the preparations for the rally planned for August 2.
According to organizers, the rally will begin at 17:00. Activists plan to express their views on demilitarization there.
“What this attitude will be depends on what explanations are received from the leaders of sector “M” and the country’s leaders regarding the coverage of the decisions made on demilitarization,” say the rally participants.
Let us recall that on July 23, a telephone conversation took place between the leaders of the Normandy Four, during which they discussed the demilitarization of Shirokino. In particular, practical decisions on the withdrawal of Ukrainian military personnel from the village of Shirokino must be made before August 3.
