About it she stated in a commentary to Komsomolskaya Pravda.
“I will understand and survive the renaming of streets. Arkady Gaidar was a sincere person, a good writer, more than one generation was raised on him, and people read him with pleasure, teenagers became infected with ideas of help. This is good literature, it is still being republished: people constantly contact me about copyright issues. Therefore, if they rename it, I think nothing bad will happen. Arkady Gaidar will live in his books, and people will voluntarily buy them. But the Soviet system, under which every city had Leninsky Prospekt, must go,” she said.
At the same time, Masha herself, as Komsomolskaya Pravda notes, is not going to change her last name yet. “Only who knows: maybe tomorrow another law will be written in Ukraine to erase names from passports...”, the publication notes.
