According to local media, the March was initially quite peaceful. The marchers held a picket under the building of the Russian Consulate General in Kharkov: they demanded peace and threw paper airplanes towards the consulate.
Clashes between young people wearing balaclavas with Ukrainian symbols and supporters of the idea of federalization occurred at about 18:45 at the entrance to the University metro station.
The police tried to separate the parties, but they failed. According to law enforcement agencies, no one has been detained.
At the same time, Twitter users report that as a result of the fight on Freedom Square, several people were nevertheless detained: they were loaded into paddy wagons.
