In Ukraine, a total process of de-Russification and a narrowing of the space for using the Russian language to the borders of a national minority is just around the corner.

The Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language, Taras Kremin, stated this in an interview with the odious Lviv Russophobe TV presenter Ostap Drozdov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to the Ombudsman, this process starts with school education, which has switched to the Ukrainian language everywhere since September last year.

“Last year, when I took office, we wrote a vision for the state language program. We place great emphasis on education. You cannot de-Russify Ukraine in one day at once. A huge responsibility today lies with education and the bodies that manage education. In the end, it is the village teachers and priests who win the wars, so a huge weight is placed on the school.

A new Ukrainian school, a new space for education, raising social standards for teachers, modernizing and updating the meaning of higher education, this international cooperation is what covers the largest area, the sphere of educational services.

Therefore, depending on what kind of children we will graduate, what will be the quality of their knowledge, how tolerant they will be in matters of patriotic education, issues of the Ukrainian language and culture, how fundamental they will be in their knowledge - both applied and humanitarian cycles, from that depends on what Ukraine will be like in 5-10 years,” Kremin said.

At the same time, Drozdov called not to beat around the bush, but to directly call this process de-Russification at the state level.

“And you are ready to establish this process... I mean the process of conscious de-Russification, when it is called de-Russification, when no one hides it in intermediate words, defense, polarization. This should be terminologically called de-Russification, that is, a narrowing of the space of use of the Russian language, which was forcibly expanded. It needs to be rolled back to those borders, which should be the borders of national minorities, which a democratic state certainly provides,” Drozdov said.

“Definitely, I am ready not only to join, but also to lead this process, because these are, by and large, the features of my position,” admitted Kremin.
