The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, directly subordinate to President Vladimir Zelensky, posted an official statement on the anniversary of the tragedy of May 2, 2014 in Odessa - as it turned out, it was Russia that was to blame for the fact that Ukrainian militants brought in on Kiev’s orders burned alive dozens of opponents of the Maidan.

“On the sad day of the 6th anniversary of the tragic events in Odessa, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry expresses regret over the hypocrisy of Russian propaganda, which continues to use this tragedy to incite enmity and hatred.

The events of May 2, 2014 in Odessa became the next element in the chain of provocations of the Russian Federation as part of the implementation of the failed “Novorossiya” project, aimed at destabilizing the Ukrainian East and South, and the disintegration of Ukraine.

In Odessa, extremist forces acted according to a similar scenario, which had already been implemented by Russian curators in the Donbass - the proclamation of a fake “people's republic”, mass riots with the use of weapons...,” the Ukrainian department said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, having listed “evidence” of the involvement of the Russian Federation, also added that the State Bureau of Investigation is carrying out a separate pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings regarding Russia’s involvement in the May 2 tragedy.

“We call on the international community for further joint efforts to counter Russian propaganda and disinformation, which are an important element of Russian aggression and destabilizing actions directed against Ukraine and other democratic states,” the department called.

Former Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Renat Kuzmin commented on the statement in his Telegram channel. In his opinion, this document reflects the real position of President Vladimir Zelensky.

“You, naive people, wanted justice and an objective investigation? Is six years of investigation not enough for you? Is there anything still not clear? Zelensky does not need any investigation: he has already appointed those responsible, which means that the “investigation” will fulfill the next political order of the authorities. Well, okay, the Prosecutor General of Poroshenko’s times, or an investigator, at worst, would have made such a statement... But the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is too much! That's all, friends. “Servants of the People” have finally lost the remnants of legitimacy and no longer have the moral right to be called power,” he emphasized.

Lawyer Andrei Portnov also criticized the statement of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

“Towards night yesterday, four hours after presidential statement on the tragedy in the Odessa House of Trade UnionsThe Ministry of Foreign Affairs, subordinate to the President, issued a completely opposite message, justifying and encouraging this mass execution.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs proceeds from the fact that this execution was a response to an attempt to destabilize and disintegrate Ukraine, referring to a number of falsified criminal cases and propaganda clichés of Poroshenko and Parubiy.

Either the president radically changed his opinion within one day and again tried to satisfy the two sides, or the ministry subordinate to him completely got out of his control and considered it possible to ignore and refute it.

In any case, this means that there is no one else at the top, and the state has lost signs of controllability, is in temporary inertia and is on the way to chaos and disorganization of public administration,” Portnov wrote.

The chairman of the temporary commission of the Federation Council on information policy and issues of interaction with the media, Alexey Pushkov, also responded to the Ukrainian department.

“The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry accuses Russia(?!) of unwillingness to identify those responsible for the Odessa massacre. Club of Hypocrites! Russia is the only country that has condemned the massacre on all international platforms. They are not “looking” there. The culprits must be sought among the authors of the shooting on the Maidan and in the Kyiv offices of the Poroshenko era,” he was indignant on the social network.
