Mass shawarma poisoning in Kyiv was the first in ten years
The mass poisoning of Kiev residents with shawarma was the first in the last 10 years, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated by the head of the Main Directorate of the State Food and Consumer Service in Kyiv, Oleg Ruban, the press service of the department reports.
“For almost 10 years no such outbreaks have been registered in Kyiv. Since annual and quarterly monitoring of business entities was carried out. Unfortunately, today business entities are inspected once every 2 years. These are business entities that belong to medium and small businesses. This requirement is spelled out in the law, which complies with all international standards,” he said.
The department also stated that all the retail outlets where Kiev residents were poisoned belong to one business entity.
“All retail outlets were supplied with low-quality products by one business entity that sold shawarma. This fact will be investigated by law enforcement officers under Article 358 of the Criminal Code,” added the head of the department.
