“No, he didn’t say anything. Whether he quit or not, the state should not abandon him. I just want my son back,” she said. The woman would like Russian authorities to “rescue” her son and his friend Yevgeny Erofeev from Ukraine.

Alexandrova said that since she learned about her son’s detention, she has not watched TV. "I just can not. Who can you trust? she asks. Alexandrova also admitted that she did not answer her son’s calls, since the numbers were unfamiliar to her. “What if it’s the SBU with threats? I don't contact anyone. How would I know it was Sasha? - she said.

Earlier, Alexandrov, in an interview with Novaya Gazeta, said that he could not contact his relatives because “no one answers the phone.” According to him, he only managed to communicate briefly with his wife Ekaterina on the VKontakte social network. The Russian also expressed fears that the authorities were putting pressure on her - the woman works in the personnel department in a military unit, which, according to the Ministry of Defense, Aleksandrov left in December last year.

Earlier, in an interview with Rossiya 24, Ekaterina stated that at the time of his trip to Ukraine, Alexander Alexandrov was no longer in the ranks of the Armed Forces.

According to Zinaida Alexandrova, her daughter-in-law did not say anything about Alexandrov’s plans to leave the army. Reuters was unable to contact the wife of the arrested Russian: she did not answer phone calls.

Alexandrov’s father, Anatoly Alexandrov, is a retired major, served in the aviation of the border troops, took part in the Soviet-Afghan war of 1979–1989. He refused to give an interview.

Aleksandrov and Yerofeyev were detained in the Lugansk region on May 16. They are under arrest until July 19 on terrorism charges. The Russians deny this and claim that they did not use weapons at all, since there was no such order. Erofeev appealed his arrest, Alexandrov did not do this and decided to cooperate with the investigation.

Moscow denies any participation of Russian armed forces in the confrontation in southeastern Ukraine. The official version of the authorities: Alexandrov and Erofeev retired from the Armed Forces in December last year and are not military personnel.
