Chudnovets herself spoke about this today at a press conference in Moscow.
“I myself tried to talk to the boy’s mother. I wrote her a letter while I was in the pre-trial detention center saying that I was very sorry that such a story had happened. She asked how I could help the boy. I didn’t receive any answer, but I was very surprised when she went to court with a request to increase my sentence from six months to a year. Her behavior is very strange,” said Chudnovets.
Chudnovets was sentenced to six months for her repost, but was recently released under pressure from the human rights community. According to her, she is not going to take revenge on her offenders, but wants to create a human rights center.
Earlier, the vice-president of the Federal Chamber of Lawyers, Evgeny Tarlo, said on radio “Moscow Speaks” that he considers Chudnovets guilty of causing moral harm to the boy and his family. In his opinion, the correct reaction to a video of violence is not its further dissemination, but a contact with law enforcement agencies. At the same time, he admitted that Chudnovets’ sentence was unnecessarily harsh.
