“Over the years of Ukraine’s independence, the child population has decreased by almost half. Almost 106 thousand children today are in boarding schools. Just think about it - 92% of these children have parents and only 8% of children are orphans.
Ukraine also took a shameful 186th place in terms of birth rate. Today, Ukraine also ranks shamefully 2nd in terms of mortality worldwide. Only Lesotho has overtaken us.
Every three days, 250 children end up in boarding schools, mostly due to poverty.
About 600 thousand children are in difficult life circumstances. We all remember the cases that were heard throughout the country - this is when the mother bullied five-year-old Alexander, she knocked out his teeth with a hammer, and at the same time the father was silent, the social workers were silent, the teachers were silent. Sasha did not go to kindergarten, and this did not bother anyone.
If we do not now introduce the protection of children into the sphere of national interests, we will lose the country tomorrow,” Romanova said.
