Tatyana Surovitskaya became famous throughout the country in 2012. Then her daughter Oksana Makar was raped and set on fire by three guys. The woman raised incredible amounts of money for treatment, and Ukrainians massively topped up her card account.
After Oksana’s death, the woman promised to donate everything collected to charity. But she didn’t do this. But she got a three-room apartment, and she was regularly seen in expensive stores and restaurants.
For Tatyana Surovitskaya, this will be the third trial; she previously served time behind bars twice, including for robbery. Now the woman is accused of stealing children's clothes from a knitwear store. She did not appear at the first preparatory meeting in the Leninsky District Court of Nikolaev. Now law enforcement officers will forcibly bring her to court.
For the last year, Surovitskaya has worked as a distributor of cheap cosmetics. She does not hesitate to speculate on the name of her deceased daughter to this day.
“Tatiana came up and said: “You know, I’m Oksana Makar’s mother,” and offered cosmetics and lipsticks. While the girls were choosing, she put things in her purse, only then, the next day, we noticed it on the CCTV cameras. Just baby things, up to a year old, onesies, suits,” says the saleswoman.
