Matios is not going to retire early and gave advice to Zelensky
The chief military prosecutor of Ukraine, Anatoly Matios, does not plan to resign early due to the change of power, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He stated this in an interview with TV channel 112.Ukraine.
“As I understand it, the war will not end in the form in which it is and, since I am a conscientious Ukrainian, it will be necessary to extend the contract and continue to serve. Having a military contract obliges me to be where I am. I have a contract until October,” the prosecutor stated his position.
In addition, Matios advised President Vladimir Zelensky to immediately amend the Criminal Procedure Code regarding alternative jurisdiction for corruption crimes for all law enforcement agencies.
“The President must now, in this Verkhovna Rada, make urgent changes to the law on investigative jurisdiction, where it should be written that the one who discovered the fact of corruption, despite the fact that it is a big fish, every fish, will investigate and bring it to court. Alternative jurisdiction for all law enforcement agencies available in the state,” he said.
Matios believes these changes will improve the quality of law enforcement through a sense of competition.
“We have such people in the SBU, in the State Fiscal Service, in the police. They don’t have any tools,” the prosecutor added.
