Matios told how the National Guard stole: they used the money to buy drugs
The investigation into the case against the National Guardsmen who stole the ammunition will be lengthy. The Chief Military Prosecutor of Ukraine, Anatoly Matios, announced this during a briefing.

“Suspicion has been declared to everyone, a petition to go to court is being prepared, and the trial is now underway. After the arrest of these officers, some of them provided confessions and many schemes, and therefore we will have to investigate this case for quite a long time. There are lists of who bought what, who stole what. There are lists of commercial structures through which funds were withdrawn and cash received,” said the chief military prosecutor.
He also added that the prosecutor's office has reliable evidence that some of the detained officers bought narcotic drugs with the proceeds.
Let us remind you that on October 10, investigators of the Main Military Prosecutor's Office, together with operatives of the Internal Security Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, detained “in the act” - during the sale of the next batch of military property worth more than 200 thousand UAH - five rear officers.
The detained officers, the head of the Central Support Base and the heads of individual warehouses for clothing support of the National Guard, are suspected of having stolen, appropriated and sold “outside” military property during 2015: batches of helmets, uniforms and shoes, which, according to documents, were intended for units National Guard in Donbass.
According to Chief Military Prosecutor Anatoly Matios, as part of the ongoing investigative actions, confessions were received, lists of buyers, documents indicating the volume of stolen goods, and structures through which funds were “laundered” were discovered.
In addition, Matios said that the National Guard has begun inspections of clothing warehouses.
