Matios threatens to kidnap Strelkov from Russian territory
Statements that Igor Strelkov was allegedly released from Slavyansk in 2014 by agreement with the Ukrainian side are exclusively political, and all questions should be addressed to the then head of the SBU Valentin Nalyvaichenko.
The chief military prosecutor of Ukraine, Anatoly Matios, stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In January of this year, you stated that Ukrainian law enforcement agencies have the opportunity to detain Girkin. I was very surprised, because when there was such an opportunity in 2014, when he was practically released from the encirclement in Slavyansk,” the presenter began.
“The one who claims that he was released, that there was such an opportunity, why wasn’t he detained?” – interrupted Matios.
“This is confirmed by the people who were there. I spoke with Nalyvaichenko about this, and he did not give me an answer,” the journalist said.
“Where is Valentin Alexandrovich today? I don’t know if Valentin Aleksandrovich even knows how to hold a machine gun in combat, in the mud or in a trench.
Therefore, to assert only as a result of political statements by those politicians who criticize the government and are not current heads of law enforcement agencies - special forces, “Alpha” and other tools for suppressing Girkin’s criminal activities in the Donetsk region were completely in the hands of the first head of the SBU after the Maidan,” noted prosecutor.
“Okay, how do you detain him now? You said that Ukrainian law enforcement agencies have such an opportunity,” the presenter recalled.
“There is always an opportunity. First, we need operational luck. Second, clear planning. Third, after all, people are ready to sacrifice themselves, to do what the Israeli intelligence services did after the Munich events (terrorist attack at the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972 - ed.). This story gave a face to all Israeli intelligence services,” said Anatoly Matios.
