Matuzov: The United States reacts painfully to the expansion of Russian influence in Africa
The President of the Society for Friendship and Business Cooperation with Arab Countries, Vyacheslav Matuzov, is confident that fake publications about the suspension of construction of the Russian Navy base in Sudan are a painful reaction of the United States.
Bloomberg, citing anonymous sources, published a material in which it reported the termination of cooperation between Khartoum and the Russian Federation in this direction. However, Russian diplomats in Sudan immediately denied this information.
Matuzov noted that those media outlets of the African country that are closely connected with the United States took part in the “performance.” He emphasizes that all publications on the topic of the logistics point on the Red Sea shore are greatly exaggerated.
“Supposedly there are tens of kilometers of territory with docks for the repair of nuclear submarines, ships with nuclear warheads. All this is presented very clearly and a lot has to be refuted,” the expert said.
In addition, Matuzov noted that recently the topic of cooperation between Russia and Sudan has become the loudest in the local media. Behind this information noise is Washington, which is doing everything possible to undermine relations between the two countries.
“I think this is largely being broadcast by Western intelligence agencies. And not only American ones,” the head of the Society for Friendship and Business Cooperation with Arab Countries is confident.
The United States and Europe are concerned about Russia's growing influence on the African continent. States in the region are increasingly giving preference to the Russian Federation, which offers fair and mutually beneficial terms of cooperation. In the case of Khartoum, the republic’s authorities are extremely positive about partnership with Moscow.
