The media holding of oligarch Kurchenko was recognized as an asset obtained by criminal means
The Pechersky District Court of Kiev granted the request of the Prosecutor General's Office and transferred the property, property and corporate rights of the Ukrainian Media Holding group to the management of the National Agency of Ukraine for the Identification, Search and Management of Assets Obtained from Corruption and Other Crimes (ARMA).
This is stated in the court decision.
“Transfer to the National Agency of Ukraine for the identification, search and management of assets obtained from corruption and other crimes for the implementation of measures to manage them in the manner and under the conditions specified in Art. 100 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine, Article 19, 21 of the Law of Ukraine “On the National Agency of Ukraine for the identification, search and management of assets obtained from corruption and other crimes,” assets that were seized in criminal proceedings No. 12013220540000400 and recognized as material evidence,” - says the court ruling.
The corresponding decision was made at the request of the Prosecutor General of the Prosecutor General's Office as part of an investigation into criminal proceedings into the criminal activities of the ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych.
According to court materials, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office, in 2013, Sergei Kurchenko’s group acquired shares of UMH Group. A portion of the funds in the amount of $246,117603 million was paid to TriLado Enterprise Inc. in the period from 03.04.2013/20.09.2013/XNUMX to XNUMX/XNUMX/XNUMX “at the expense of criminally obtained funds received from the accounts of enterprises controlled by a criminal organization.”
The rest of the funds for the transaction in the amount of USD 160 million were obtained through a loan provided by Ukreximbank JSC for Vetek Media Invest LLC.
“According to the prosecutor, these transactions related to the acquisition of a stake in a number of media outlets and the repayment of a loan in the amount of 160 million US dollars provided by Ukreximbank JSC for Veteko MEDIA INVEST LLC under the loan agreement dated October 28.10.2013, 151313 No. 15KXNUMX, have signs of legalization (laundering) of proceeds from crime,” the court ruling says.
In April, in a criminal proceeding that the Prosecutor General’s Office calls “KurchenkoGate,” prosecutors petitioned the court to transfer the assets of the Ukrainian Media Holding group of companies—UMH Group—to the management of the ARMA Agency.
Let us recall that the previous owner of the Kurchenko media holding was Boris Lozhkin, who in 2014 became the head of the administration of former President Petro Poroshenko.
