Medvedchuk is preparing a reserve airfield for Kolomoisky in Russia - political scientist
The controversial Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoisky may receive asylum in Russia if the United States demands his extradition.
Political scientist Kost Bondarenko stated this on the UkrLife Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, Russia is the only country that will not extradite Kolomoisky to the United States. Bondarenko notes that the Ukrainian oligarch can receive asylum through the Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk.
“Kolomoisky may be strongly advised to leave the country himself and go somewhere else. But there is one and only country in the world where he can theoretically go and from where he will not be extradited to the United States. It's Russia. He has already been to Israel, as far as I know, in Israel he was strongly advised to remember about his homeland, about the Dnieper, the steep slopes and everything else. In this situation, this is the only country.
I don’t think that Igor Valerievich has already deserved forgiveness for what he said in the spring of 2014 to Putin. The only ally in this regard today who can resolve the Kolomoisky issue in Russia is Medvedchuk, oddly enough. With whom there was a rapprochement on very specific grounds.
Igor Kolomoisky is interested in importing Russian energy to Ukraine; Viktor Medvedchuk’s son-in-law heads the Rossetti company, which deals specifically with the transportation of electricity and the transmission of electricity. But this is a business basis. In any case, I think there is a basis for conversations, for contacts, for solving something more than just trading in electricity,” Bondarenko said.
