Medvedchuk wants to “return Donbass to Ukraine, and Ukraine to Donbass”
Vladimir Zelensky, after being elected president, misses the opportunity given to him to “return Donbass to Ukraine, and Ukraine to Donbass.”
Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk stated this in Moscow at a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In fact, the second month of Mr. Zelensky’s presidency has begun, and, in addition to populist statements and meaningless statements, this policy is a policy of dialogue, a policy of relationships, a policy of sorting things out and returning Donbass to Ukraine, and Ukraine to Donbass, in order to explain to people and give the opportunity, firstly, to protect themselves, that is, guarantees of protection, to offer them something that would influence their decision to return to Ukraine, so that these territories would cease to be uncontrolled by Ukraine... So far there is no answer to this question,” Medvedchuk shared his experiences .
Let us recall that in May in Donetsk, celebrations on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the referendum on the independence of the republic, which did not recognize the coup in Ukraine carried out with the support of the West, were held under the slogan “Our choice is Russia.”
“The test that you have passed and have been going through for five years now indicates that Donbass has a great future ahead. And Donbass will be a prosperous, full-fledged subject of the Russian Federation,” said State Duma deputy Natalya Poklonskaya, addressing the Donetsk residents.
The number of supporters of returning to Ukraine in the LDPR fluctuates within the statistical error - 2%, previously stated Alexander Kazakov, adviser to the deceased leader of the Donetsk Republic Alexander Zakharchenko.
“I have seen this change in public opinion for four years. As far as I know, the situation in this respect has not changed now. Of the options for the desired future, the vote in favor of Russia, that is, reunification with Russia, was always in the range of 50 to 70%. Moreover, it dropped to 50 kopecks only once. Basically, the corridor was from 60 to 70% - residents of Donbass were in favor of joining Russia. And this position does not change. The position for an independent Donbass changed - it grew all the time, from 5-6 to 22-24,” said Kazakov.
