No autonomous or federal status within Ukraine, nothing other than joining Russia, will insure the residents of Donbass from bombing by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Historian and political scientist Vladimir Kornilov stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"Often he (Medvedchuk – ed.) voices the right ideas about the federalization of Ukraine, but for us, Donetsk residents, these ideas have already become a thing of the past - yes, five, seven years ago...

The opinion of the Donetsk people must be taken into account, but now they are not considering the option of returning to Ukraine, even as a stuffed animal or a carcass,” Kornilov said.
“Very many, even those who were recently still loyal to Ukraine, still dream of joining Russia, and we understand why. Because this is the only guarantee that Donbass will stop being bombed, just as they don’t bomb Crimea. This must be understood. No autonomous status, federal-confederal status gives us any security guarantees,” the expert added.
